Position: Assistant Store Manager

 

Overview: As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the store manager in overseeing the daily operations of a coffee shop or café. You will assist in managing the team, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining operational efficiency. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Support the store manager in leading and motivating a team of baristas and support staff.

    • Assist in training new team members on coffee preparation techniques, customer service, and store procedures.

    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring smooth operations.

    • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to enhance employee performance and professional growth.

    • Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and collaboration.

  2. Customer Service Excellence:

    • Assist in ensuring exceptional customer experiences by maintaining high standards of service.

    • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints, seeking resolutions and ensuring customer satisfaction.

    • Monitor customer flow and service levels, making adjustments to optimize the customer experience.

    • Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

    • Collaborate with the team to implement strategies for customer engagement and loyalty.

  3. Operational Management:

    • Support the store manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management.

    • Assist in monitoring and analyzing sales, expenses, and other performance indicators.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

    • Assist in managing inventory levels, placing orders, and ensuring product availability.

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food handling guidelines.

  4. Quality Control and Standards:

    • Assist in maintaining high-quality standards for products, cleanliness, and overall store presentation.

    • Monitor and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures and quality control measures.

    • Conduct regular checks on equipment functionality, cleanliness, and maintenance.

    • Address any issues related to product quality, equipment, or supplies promptly and effectively.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

  5. Communication and Reporting:

    • Communicate effectively with the store manager, providing updates on operations, team performance, and customer feedback.

    • Assist in maintaining accurate records and reports, including sales data, inventory counts, and employee schedules.

    • Collaborate with the store manager and team members to ensure effective communication throughout the store.

    • Participate in team meetings and relay information to the team regarding new initiatives, promotions, and changes in procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in the coffee or hospitality industry.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.

  • Flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
